From 23 November 2019 until the 3th of January 2021, the Princessehof National Museum of Ceramics will present work by Jennifer Tee (Arnhem, 1973). Tee won The exhibition Jennifer Tee: Falling Feathers includes various sculptural works, imaginative collages, and two installations made from black and white porcelain feathers. Tee’s work is characterised by a combination of power and modesty, with which she invites the viewer to enter a new world.
The soul in limbo is central to Tee’s work. She is intrigued by an ‘intermediate state of being’, such as the area between the physical and the psychological or the transition between life and death. She also investigates the mutability and complexity of existence, wherein cultures constantly merge into one another.
Jennifer Tee studied in Amsterdam at the Gerrit Rietveld Academy, the Sandberg Institute and the State Academy of Fine Arts. She has attended residencies in China, Australia and the United States. Tee has won several prizes, including the Uriot Prize (twice), the Prix Nouvelles Images and the Cobra Kunstprijs Amstelveen. Her work has recently been exhibited at the Istanbul Biennale (2019), the São Paulo Biennale (2018) and at the Camden Arts Centre in London (2017).
